Eligibility Requirements
Please be sure to meet all eligibility requirements prior to recruitment. In order to receive a bid from an IFC organization during Fall 2026 Recruitment, all potential new members must:
Register for Recruitment
In order to be eligible for Fraternity Recruitment the student must complete the online registration form. Visit here to register.
Pay your Recruitment Fee
In order to be eligible for Fraternity Recruitment the student must pay the $60 Recruitment Fee.
Be a University of Kentucky Student
All men joining an IFC fraternity must be enrolled full time with at-least 12 credit hours at the University of Kentucky (at the beginning of the semester).
BCTC Students are not eligible to join.
Meet all Academic Requirements
The minimum established University of Kentucky GPA to participate in IFC Recruitment is a 2.7 Unweighted GPA for both returning and transfer/new students.
Attend IFC Brotherhood Orientation
In order to be eligible for Fraternity Recruitment the student must attend one of the information sessions put on by the IFC throughout recruitment week.
Appeals
Per Interfraternity Council bylaws, if a person wishes to join an organization, they must meet an academic standard prior to participating in formal recruitment. If you are a person who falls below the 2.7 GPA requirement, but above a 2.5, you may submit a written appeal to the IFC Executive Board explaining your request for exemption.
Your appeal must include all the following components. Failure to do so will result in your appeal not being reviewed until every portion is submitted.
Email the IFC Vice President of Recruitment, Vice President of Scholarship and IFC Advisor requesting an opportunity to meet to discuss the appeal.

The following items should be included in the email:
- A personal letter:
- Explaining why you want to be a member of the Interfraternity Council
community.
- Any significant challenges or changes in high school or college related to
your academics.
- An unofficial transcript.
- Action Items you are going to do to ensure their success during first year
of membership.
Schedule a meeting to discuss your appeal application and attend an IFC Brotherhood Orientation.
Request your appeal by Friday, September 4th at 11:59pm.
The Interfraternity Council Executive Board determination on your appeal will be final. Please follow the instructions above to request an appeal decision.
