Chapter Bio:

Phi Gamma Delta was founded in 1848 at Jefferson College in Pennsylvania. There were six original founders, dubbed the “Importal Six”: John Templeton McCarty, Naaman Fletcher, Ellis Bailey Gregg, James Elliot Junior, Daniel Webster Crofts, and Samuel Beatty Wilson. Phi Gamma Delta’s nicknames are Phi Gam and Fiji. Fiji’s international head quarters are located in Lexington, KY and are a popular attraction for Phi Gams across the world. Annually, all Fijis have a Fiji Islander party and a Pig Dinner. The first Pig Dinner was held in 1893 and is a chance for graduate brothers to congregate. Fiji’s unofficial sister sorority is the Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity. Many Fijis have done well for themselves and have become famous. Johnny Carson, Dick Costolo (CEO of Twitter), and Calvin Coolidge are just a few.

The Upsilon Kappa chapter was originally founded at UK in 1959. In 1991 the chapter was reestablished at the University and flourished. Currently we have 60 brothers who exemplify the values of friendship, knowledge, service, morality, and excellence; the guiding values of Phi Gamma Delta.

Brotherhood in Phi Gamma Delta lasts a lifetime and truly is “not for college days alone”. The Upsilon Kappa chapter was originally founded at UK in 1959.
